V&T Haunted Graveyard Train

A night train through a real Gold Rush cemetery.

rating not yet verified

The V&T Railway has hauled tourists between Virginia City and Gold Hill on 150-year-old rail for decades. On Halloween weekend it runs the route at night, and the route happens to pass the Gold Hill Cemetery, where actual Comstock miners have been buried since the 1860s.

The Haunted Graveyard Train is a 40-minute ride with costumed characters working the cars and the dark high desert doing the atmosphere for free. It’s a family-level scare, closer to ghost story than gore, and it sells out fast because there are only a couple of nights a year.

If your Halloween plans involve one weird, only-in-Nevada thing, a night train past a Gold Rush graveyard is a strong candidate.
