Yes. Andelin Family Farms in Sparks runs a daytime fall festival that is fully kid-safe, and its scary attractions after dark are aimed at teens and up. The intense haunts like Dark Prison recommend ages 13 and up. Home haunts vary, and most tone it down for little ones on request.

Is Dark Prison really inside a real prison?

It is. Dark Prison operates inside the former Nevada State Prison in Carson City, which held inmates from 1862 until the state closed it in 2012. The cellblocks, the walls, and most of what you walk through is the real thing.

What happened to the old Reno haunted houses?

A lot of them are gone. Kingdom of Horrors, the SlaughterHouse, and others closed as venues changed hands and seasonal leases dried up. We keep their stories in the Boneyard, our archive of defunct Reno haunts.
