Dark Prison
A haunted house inside a real 160-year-old prison.
Northern Nevada's largest haunted attraction, staged inside the former Nevada State Prison in Carson City. Three haunts in real cellblocks, a carnival-style yard, and a 21+ bar in the old muster room. The area's highest-rated haunt on Google.
Corn Creepers at Andelin Family Farm
Fifty actors hiding in a real cornfield.
Andelin Family Farm's after-dark haunted walkthrough, built in a real Spanish Springs cornfield with around 50 actors a night. The farm also runs Zombie Paintball Apocalypse and a fully wholesome daytime fall festival.
The Final Hour
Ten thousand square feet of slasher-movie warehouse.
An independent indoor walkthrough haunt in a Sparks warehouse, formerly at Meadowood Mall. Around 10,000 square feet with a hard slasher lean and a chainsaw finale.

Two Halloween attractions inside one small Reno event venue. BooVille runs themed indoor trick-or-treat rooms for young kids, and Macabre Manor handles the older crowd.
Reno Zombie Crawl
Twenty thousand zombies, forty bars, one downtown.
One of the biggest costumed bar crawls in the country. Downtown Reno fills with roughly 20,000 zombies across 40+ participating bars every October. The 2026 crawl is set for Saturday, October 17.

The Washoe Club in Virginia City runs year-round ghost tours through the building Ghost Adventures made famous, with a saloon downstairs and a haunted museum upstairs.

Reno has buried more haunted houses than it currently runs. The Boneyard keeps their stories: the venues, the years, the rooms people still talk about.
Dark Corner Haunted House
The downtown haunt that became Dark Prison. And it's coming back.
The haunted house that ran inside Reno's National Bowling Stadium from 2022, built by the crew that now operates Dark Prison. Closed downtown when the show moved to the prison, and now announced to return in 2027.
Slaughter House (Reno Fright Fest)
Fourteen seasons, five venues, one empire of Reno Halloween.
Eli Kerr's Reno Fright Fest ran the Slaughter House from 2006 to 2019, from the Silver Legacy to Meadowood Mall to three levels of the Aces ballpark. It was Northern Nevada's biggest haunt for a decade, and COVID ended it quietly.
Kingdom of Horrors
Twenty-six rooms behind the roller rink.
The haunted kingdom that ran at Roller Kingdom on East 7th Street through most of the 2010s, built around the grim legend of the Kilburn Estate. It faded out quietly around 2017.

When do haunted houses open in Reno?
Most professional haunts in the Reno area open in late September and run through Halloween night, mostly on Friday and Saturday evenings with extra nights added in late October. Check each haunt page here for exact dates.
How much do haunted houses in Reno cost?
General admission runs about $20 to $35 depending on the haunt and the night: Corn Creepers is $20 online, Dark Prison runs $24.95 to $34.95 by night, and The Final Hour charges $30. VIP and skip-the-line tiers run $45 and up. Home haunts are free.
Are there haunted attractions in Reno that work for kids?
Yes. Andelin Family Farms in Sparks runs a daytime fall festival that is fully kid-safe, and its scary attractions after dark are aimed at teens and up. The intense haunts like Dark Prison recommend ages 13 and up. Home haunts vary, and most tone it down for little ones on request.
Is Dark Prison really inside a real prison?
It is. Dark Prison operates inside the former Nevada State Prison in Carson City, which held inmates from 1862 until the state closed it in 2012. The cellblocks, the walls, and most of what you walk through is the real thing.
What happened to the old Reno haunted houses?
A lot of them are gone. Kingdom of Horrors, the SlaughterHouse, and others closed as venues changed hands and seasonal leases dried up. We keep their stories in the Boneyard, our archive of defunct Reno haunts.
