Reno, Nevada Closed 2012–mid 2010s

Battlefield Live Z

The casino where you hunted zombies.

For a stretch of the 2010s, the Grand Sierra Resort let you shoot zombies. Battlefield LIVE launched at the GSR in April 2012, the first attraction of its kind at a casino property, running live-combat gaming sessions at ten dollars per fifteen minutes. The Halloween-flavored version, Battlefield Live Z, turned it into a zombie hunt and earned the GSR a spot in the national haunt directories.

It faded out sometime in the mid-2010s without ceremony. The space lives on as Max Action Arena, where the zombies are now in VR. If anyone from Reno ever tells you there used to be a zombie apocalypse attraction inside a casino, they’re not misremembering. It was real, and it was exactly as strange as it sounds.
