Twenty-six rooms behind the roller rink.
Every kid who grew up skating at Roller Kingdom knew that in October, the property next to the rink turned into something else. Kingdom of Horrors ran 26 rooms of scares on East 7th Street through most of the 2010s, a fixture of the mid-tier Reno haunt scene when the Slaughter House ruled the big venues.
It had lore, and the lore was bleak. The haunt was framed as the Kilburn Estate, a family manor deep in the swamp where a fire took Mrs. Kilburn, after which the grieving Mr. Kilburn opened the “Kilburn Reform School” and cast his own sons into its basement. Resident characters Mel and Lester worked the rooms alongside a crew of horned demons and bloodied ghouls. Admission in its prime: twelve bucks, fifteen to skip the line, and two dollars off if you brought a can of Rockstar.
The ending was the quietest kind. The website froze after the 2017 season, the domain lapsed, and the kingdom never announced a thing. Its Facebook page still sits online like a light left on. If you worked it, ran it, or know the family behind it, we want to finish this story properly.
