Dark Corner Haunted House
The downtown haunt that became Dark Prison. And it's coming back.
Dark Corner Haunted House opened in fall 2022 in one of the strangest venues a haunt ever occupied: the National Bowling Stadium in downtown Reno. A professional-grade walkthrough materialized inside a civic landmark, and for three seasons it gave downtown a real haunted house within walking distance of the casinos.
Then came the plot twist. Maurice White, board president of the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society, walked through the inaugural Reno season, liked what he saw, and made the crew an offer roughly no haunt builder could refuse: come do this inside an actual decommissioned prison. The team took it. Dark Corner’s downtown era ended, and Dark Prison opened inside the Nevada State Prison in Carson City for 2025.
The Boneyard’s first resurrection
Most haunts in this section stay buried. Not this one. Dark Corner is coming back in 2027, which makes it the first haunt in the Boneyard with a return date instead of an epitaph. Venue and details haven’t been announced, so for now the story sits in the best kind of suspense: downtown Reno lost its haunted house, and it’s getting one back.
We’ll move this page out of the Boneyard the day it reopens. Until then, watch this space, and tell us if you hear something before we do.
